Lasers and Optimists in Savusavu

During the New Zealand winter Freewind heads north to warmer latitudes. Savusavu
in Fiji is our second home, and it’s always great to see the awesome young sailors at
the Savusavu Junior Sailing Club training and having lots of fun on the water.
Thanks to the efforts of many people at the Savusavu Yacht Club and donations from
Fijian businesses and visiting yachties, the Junior Sailing Club’s fleet has grown and
both Optimists and Lasers can now be seen sailing every weekend.

A record number of boats were out on the water on Saturday for the racing, and
everyone ashore and on the water was treated to a great show.
Seven Lasers and a dozen Optimists battled for position at the start line, with a
brisk breeze blowing and great performances from the young sailors.
